Ensure that the site where you plan to install the DS8000® storage units meets the power connector requirements.

Table 1 provides the power cords and the inline connectors and receptacles types that they support. Find the power cord row that is appropriate for your site. Ensure that the site where you plan to install the DS8000 storage units meets the power connector requirements that are shown in that row.

Phase rotation on 3-phase power-cable connectors is counterclockwise as you look at the power cord plug. Phase rotation is clockwise as you look at the face of the power receptacle at your installation site.
Attention

Low-voltage, three-phase installations (200-240 V) require wall circuit breakers that have a rating of 50 to 60 A.
High-voltage, three-phase installations (380-480 V) require wall circuit breakers that have a rating of 30 to 35 A.
Note Special applications that use 30 A power cords must rely on 30 A wall circuit breakers for power cord protection.

Do not exceed the wire rating of the facility.
Table 1. DS8000 power cordsPower Cord Feature Code Power Cord Description Inline Connector Receptacle

1060 (see Notes 1, 2,3, 5, and 8.) Power cord for U.S., Canada, LA, and AP: Single-phase, 50 Hz or 60 Hz, 60 amperes IEC 309 IEC 309

1092(see Notes 1, 2,4, 5, and 6.)Power cord for Japan, U.S., and Canada: 3-phase 50 Hz or 60 Hz, 60 amperes IEC 309 IEC 309
Notes
All power cords are rated at 600 V ac, except power cords for Japan, which are 250 V ac. Each cord has 3 poles and 4 wires.
The conductor size for non-EMEA and Japan power cords is 6 awg. The conductor size for EMEA cords is 6 mm².
Connectors and receptacles are supplied by Russellstoll.
Preferred connectors and receptacles are supplied by Hubbell.
All power cords extend 4.2 m (14 ft) from lowest point where they exit the frame to the mating face of the plug or bare leads.
The IEC309 receptacle must be installed in a metal-backed box with the green wire ground-connected to the grounding lug within the box. Ensure continuity between the box and the metallic shielding of the liquid-tight conduit.
The 7428-78 in-line connector must have the appropriate JPA adapter that is included in the assembly. The adapter ensures continuity between the connector housing and the metallic shielding of the liquid-tight conduit.
Single-phase power is supported on Models 951 and 95E. To inquire about single-phase power support on your existing models, contact your IBM representative.
If you plan on accessing the CLI or the Storage Manager and have a firewall between the management console and your network, you need to open the following TCP/IP ports prior to installation: 427, 1718, 1720, 1722, 1750, 1755, 6989, and 8451-8455.

The rack operator panel contains 3 light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and the unit emergency power off (UEPO) switch.

The LEDs reflect various conditions of operation depending on the function they represent. When you observe that their standard reflection is different, it can mean that there is a need for service.
The following graphic represents the rack operator panel that is found on a Model DS8000 (Model 941/242x).
